Haufinyane tjena, Indonesia Ceramic Association (Asaki) asked the government to immediately release a policy to strengthen and protect the country’s ceramic industry, especially with regard to imported ceramics.
According to data compiled by Asaki, January 2020 – August imports of Indonesian ceramic products fell only 7% selemo le selemo, from $ 173 million to $ 159 milione. Leha ho le joalo, the country’s imports of ceramic products from India increased by 39%, while imports from China fell by 22%. 732,618 pieces of Indonesian sanitary ceramics were exported from China in January-August, down 77,703 pieces year-on-year, with total exports of $49.46 milione, down 22%.
The association also asked the country’s Ministry of Industry to tighten the submission of Indonesian SNI import certifications and proposed minimum import price regulations made for products from Vietnam, the Philippines, India and Vietnam. Benefiting from policy measures targeting the ceramic industry, namely the gas price stimulus of US$6 per MMBTU implemented on April 13, 2020, the measure can provide significant value to improve the competitiveness of the ceramic industry. According to Indonesia’s Central Statistical Agency (BPS), ceramic exports increased 24% year-on-year from US$36.2 million to US$44.9 million in January-August 2020.
